I have just finished the BHI course - Incorporating Bioidentical Hormones into the Medical Practice, and I have a few questions. Is there anyone that can help?

1) When would I use patches vs. compounded estradiol? Other than patient preference.

2) Should I ever prescribe vaginal progesterone? If so , when?

3) Is there a preference towards any particular pharmaceutical bioidentical hormones?

Thanks!

Applications

Hi,

Some interesting questions. I would use a patch if the patient doesn't absorb the cream or gel and of course personal preference.

I don't use vaginal progesterone anymore. I used to but found better results with estriol vaginal or even testosterone. What were you thinking of using it for?

My preference would be to use Estrogel 0.06%, Vivelle-dot start low- 0.05 BIW Prometrium 100 HS ( however caution, very sedating and in peanut oil, so careful with potential allergies).
